Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy
What is Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy?
PRP therapy is a treatment for injuries and degenerative conditions that affect your health and function.

PRP comes from your blood. The platelets — one of the layers of your blood — contain growth factors and cellular signaling factors that promote recovery.

This type of therapy removes the other layers of blood and concentrates the platelets, so a PRP vial contains 10 times more platelets than unprocessed blood.

PRP therapy distributes the concentrated platelets around damaged tissue via injection. The growth factors trigger your body’s healing response to repair damaged tissue, and cellular signaling factors recruit your body’s innate tissue-building cells to replace non-repairable tissue.

What conditions does PRP therapy treat?
PRP therapy treats both injuries and degenerative conditions, including:

Arthritis
PRP therapy effectively treats arthritis in many areas, including the spine, shoulders, hips, knees, elbows, and ankles.

Sports Injuries
Sports injuries like rotator cuff tears, tennis elbow, and Achilles tendon injuries often respond well to PRP therapy. It can be an alternative to surgery after an injury or help you delay or avoid a joint replacement if you have arthritis.

PRP is also used in aesthetic medicine. It combines with micro needling for anti-aging treatments and is an effective solution for hair loss as well.

How does PRP therapy work?
OWM Integrative Wellness uses the latest PRP technology to extract the highest concentration of healing platelets from your blood sample. This makes a high-potency PRP formula that translates into more efficient and faster healing.
The OWM PRP therapy approach includes much more then platelets; it also includes prolotherapy (natural irritants that stimulate healing) and tissue repair peptides (BPC and TB4). Low level laser fiberoptic wires by Weber Laser are introduced into the joint through one of the injection needles. Various laser frequencies are then used to further activate repair. These added techniques create maximum coverage of the injured tissue and, ultimately, the best possible results. Leonard Kaplan, DO, uses ultrasound guidance to pinpoint the ideal injection areas for your PRP therapy. Dr. Kaplan has nearly three decades of experience in treating joint injuries and was the first in the area to use ultrasound guidance for PRP therapy. While many orthopedic clinics inject PRP in a single spot, Dr. Kaplan injects it at many places in and around the joint. This strengthens and stabilizes the tendons, ligaments, and joint capsule, allowing for whole-joint renewal. Most people need 2-3 treatments, spaced a month apart, for maximum results. Healing usually starts within a few weeks of your first session.
At OWM Integrative Wellness we use a cutting edge intravenous activation of the nutrients with a Weber Endolaser fiberoptic low level lasers.
